DIVA DIXIE Holiday Shopping Ideas for Models
Photographer Chris Ford - SmokeyCreekImages
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! I love this time of year, but then again, who doesn’t? I have had some exciting things happening in my modeling career lately. Books, calendars, and websites - Oh my! I don’t want to give much away on that note yet, you’ll just have to wait till next time. This month I have decided to go with the spirit of the season – the shopping season that is! Here is my list of items that any woman, model or not, should be wishing for this Christmas. I threw in one or two of my favorites for the fellas and kiddos too – we can’t leave them out! So listen up and take notes – I’m about to make your holiday shopping a bit easier.

- Temptu airbrush set - (sephora.com) This is a model/MUA favorite, but shouldn’t be hogged by the glamorous! It may seem intimidating, but with a little bit of practice, any woman will find this essential for her everyday makeup routine. No fingers, brushes, or sponges means a more hygienic and less wasteful way to apply your foundation – not to mention the amazing coverage.
- Victoria’s Secret Ruched Convertible Dress – (victoriassecret.com) This is it, ladies. The dress to end all dresses. One dress, several hot colors to choose from, and so many ways to wear it! The sight lists 10 ways, and claims there are even more. I may just have to buy one to test that out; it’s a tough job but you know what they say! Included is a handy style guide to help you get the most out of it. And pssst…it’s ten dollars off right now on their website!!
- Sassy cuff bracelet – (Sassygirlcouture.com) Check out ‘Moxie Mama’ or ‘Deo Volente Jewels’ to find these rockin’ blinged-out leather bracelets! While you’re there be sure to look around the rest of the site… the wineglass charms just may be the perfect stocking stuffers. And for those blessed with boys, the faith-based t-shirts under ‘My Cute Brute’ will have you whipping out your credit card faster that I can say Ho Ho Ho! Everything looks better in person, so be sure to check out their hostess program if you’re around the Houston, TX area to score some bonus discounts.
- Urban Decay Primer Potion – (urbandecay.com) I Love This Product. Hard of hearing? I’ll say it again… I LOVE this Product!! It is an eyeshadow primer in a pretty purple bottle that makes even the brightest colors brighter and stick to your lid like white on rice. I have gone to bed with eyeshadow on (a big no-no) and woke up with it still perfect. Definitely a must-have for your model bag or makeup kit!
- Bugs, bugs and more bugs – (Store.discovery.com) Okay, so I know right about now most of you divas are thinking “Bugs? SKIP!” Trust me, this toy is not just for the little ones! The ‘Discovery Turbo Critter Catcher’ has been a favorite of every child that has visited our house, and has helped Mom get a sneaky spider or two out of the corner as well. It’s a bug vacuum gun that sucks bugs up into a middle compartment where your curious child can watch their captives wiggle, crawl or flap before releasing them unharmed. Buy it with the ‘Discovery Bug Microscope’ and watch your little ones be amazed by the world around them. For those still not sure, let me put it this way…my daughter and her friends have spent hours at a time out of my hair, ahem, house playing with this toy!
- The Bone automotive creeper – (thebonecreeper.com) If your guy is a handy man like mine, this may just be the perfect gift. Forget those flimsy creepers that flip, tip, and barely roll. The Bone is one solid molded piece with rubber tires that won’t trip up on every cord in the garage. Made in America, this is a gift the auto enthusiast will definitely appreciate!! Not sure what a creeper is? Check out the website! Word of experience - check around for pricing, you can get it much cheaper after a little Google search.
- Thinkgeek.com – Okay, I am just throwing this whole website up here. It’s nerdy, techy, corny and I love it! From the no-spill gyroscopic toddler bowls, to the sarcastic t-shirts, this is the site to see for that person on your list that has everything and likes nothing. You know who you are…

Well guys and gals, that’s my list; hopefully some of it helped you out or sparked some ideas of your own! While considering these, remember that you have many gifts already in your own home to share with others. Have your child donate some of their toys, send a christmas card to a soldier, or volunteer in your community. Make it grand, make it special, make it merry! I will see you all next year!
Much love and good wishes,
