As always, I will talk from my experiences as an ex actress/model as well as a current photographer. If you want to make a terrible first impression, book a date and then don't call or write. Just vanish. Don't show up to that casting call after you say you will. Believe me, your agent will remember you. If you wish to make a really lasting impression, just be a "flake". No one will get mad at you if you just tell them what's going on. It's a lot better than being a no show, that is for sure. If you have to, MAKE SOMETHING UP, but don't just not show. Doing so could be your professional end. Photographers and Casting Agents talk. In fact, we most gossip like old women. If you are serious about this business you have to treat it like you would your "day" job. Would you ever consider just not call in? If you would consider this ok, you are in the wrong business. The largest part of this type of work is a reputation for being a pro. If you are a pro, you will work. If you aren't....if you get a reputation as a flake, you won't. It's that easy.
