Your Business Card
Don't leave home without it!
 Whether you have a full-time job, are searching for work or a student, you should have a business card (or mini-comp). Business cards are key to successful networking. The business card (or mini-comp) is also yet another place to show-off your work.
Why use the standard business card or mini-comp instead of a larger comp card? While models should still invest in the larger comp cards, most comp cards are too large to fit in someone's wallet or purse. You want to be sure they don't toss your card into the trash or just place it loosely into a bag. It's more likely to get lost and ruined. You want to be sure when they want to contact you that they can easily access your contact information just as they would any other business contact they make.
While simply putting your name, address and phone number (models need to be sure to use a P.O. Box and a cell phone number--a physical address and land line could open the door to undesirable people with even less desirable intentions) is better than nothing, get creative with your business cards. You have 3.5x2 inches of space times two (don't forget to use the back side) to illustrate just how good you are. Use the space wisely. This card is the first glimpse of your portfolio, a teaser to grab interest. Show your best work. Showcase a variety of styles to demonstrate versatility.
Make sure your business card is memorable and identifiable. If the card has an unusual/creative logo or design in addition to your great photos, it will leave an impression. Make it identifiable with a tag-line about what you do so it is clear to the reader.
Your business card shows overall professionalism and dedication to your goal of being a professional model, photographer, agent, etc. Make the investment! "You've got to spend money to make money." This statement couldn't be more true. The business card is the most important investment to make and not to be made half-heartedly.
