Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Do I need a portfolio before I make an appointment to meet with your school director? We suggest you bring a snapshot to your meeting with our school director. Spending lots of money on pictures is not necessary. Photographers have different styles and many take portrait (senior) pictures. Although, they advertise as being a fashion photographer. Be careful.Everyone stops me and says my two (2) month old baby looks like the Gerber baby and should be a model. How can I get her/him into modeling? We offer parents the opportunity to register children under the age of four (4) to be a part of our Baby File. A one time only registration fee, completed form, and current picture, assures your baby will be notified of appropriate auditions. (Click on Baby File.) Do I have to take classes to work with Images? (I am a natural and really am self taught
. I dont need your classes) Images has been in business since 1977 and have sometimes painfully realized we must be involved in the training process. Every modeling school is different, some good and some not so good. When youre an Images model/actor, you represent the entire company; and it must be professional. So, yes, taking Images classes is a must. What makes Images different from those model search companies you hear about on the radio or T.V.? Images has been around for 28 years, has the same local address and telephone number for over 15 years, and an owner who is educated and a community leader. Model search companies generally dont have these qualifications. They have no local telephone number, no local address, and no one in charge. When its all over and theyve taken your money, they usually arent there for you or maybe cant even be found. After years of sad phone calls to the agency from people that fell for fly by night operations, Janie Head, Images Owner, worked for over two years along with the Better Business Bureau to establish a Modeling/Talent Ordinance in the city of Lexington. This helps protect the trusting public from these questionable operations. Also, its important to know that Images is an independently owned business, not a franchise - so when you hear about what we do and our success stories . . . these are our successes not another franchise located elsewhere. I am very pretty and 53 tall. My dream has always been to be a high fashion runway model. Can Images help me reach this dream? Images uses our graduates of all heights and shapes and sizes as there is not a height requirement in Central Kentucky. However, if you plan to model in a large fashion market, for females 59 is a minimum and height requirement for males is 511. I had a guy approach me at a local restaurant and said he could help me become a model. He said hes a photographer and gave me his card. He sounded and looked legit. Should I call him back? Anyone can have a business card printed. Unfortunately, not everyone who has a business card is legitimate. We dont encourage getting involved with someone soliciting business. I heard you must be thin anorexic to make it in a fashion magazine. How does Images feel about their models being so thin? Images has never and will never promote dieting to the extent of being unhealthy. Being healthy and having a toned body is much more attractive to our clients. Top national runway models are thin; and there are certain females who can achieve this look without starvation, many cant. We stress being healthy, fit and happy. I have really long hair past my waist and dont want to cut it. Will you make me have a short cut? Your hair is your hair, yet having an updated look is an important part of landing jobs. Being stuck in a past decade is not marketable. Study fashion magazines and work with a stylist to achieve your look. (Donating 10 inches of hair or more might be a wonderful gesture to Locks of Love, a charity for making wigs for cancer patients and those that have a disease where they cant grow hair. Go to locksoflove.org to check out this wonderful organization.) Lexington isnt a very big city. What kind of work can I expect to get? There is more work in Lexington than you might realize. Local and regional T.V. commercials, company training videos, product promotions in stores and restaurants, and film work. We network with and agency in Cincinnati which opens the door of additional print and T.V. work, often times national. Images is very involved in community events and work with many organizations utilizing our students and graduates. Ive heard some agencies have a handful of really good models and actors and they are the only people who get work. Does Images operate this way? When a client contracts Images, headcards are submitted for the requested work. Everyone is treated as an equal. Clients are the decision makers 85% of the time. Occasionally, a job opens up quickly and the client doesnt have time to make a decision, therefore Images will be asked to fill the request. Do you have offices in other cities? Lexington is Images only location. Images is independently owned by Janie Olmstead Head. It is not franchise. Images is a member of AIM (the Alliance for Independent Members), IMTA (International Modeling and Talent Association), Lexington Chamber of Commerce, and, of course, Central and Eastern Kentuckys Better Business Bureau. Do you have any stars that I might recognize? Images has so many stars -- local, regional, national, and international. You can click on Images Success Stories and take a look . How can I hear about auditions for movies and T.V. commercials in Lexington? When youre an Images student and/or graduate, we insist you have an email address. By reading our Agency Updates, you are made aware of everything that is happening at this exciting agency.
